The Cleghorn Neighborhood Center has over three decades of experience working with children and families in the Fitchburg community in a "grassroots" capacity.  The one major attribute that the CNC has, that most non-profits strive for, is community support. Over the past thirty-plus years, the Center has provided bilingual, bicultural programs and outreach to a highly dense, at-risk community. The Cleghorn community in that time has accepted and played an important part in the Center's mission of developing the social, economic, physical, and recreational infrastructure of Cleghorn. The Cleghorn Neighborhood Center is in a true sense the ideal community center. We are able to identify the needs of parents during the daytime hours, which in turn allows the CNC to access and fulfill the needs of Cleghorn's after school child population.

The Cleghorn Neighborhood Center accomplishes its mission primarily through:

• Youth Development Programs: after-school and summer programs that provide academic and enrichment activities, college preparation and career exploration for high school students, civic engagement and leadership development
  

• Continuing Education for Adults: G.E.D. classes, ESL classes, computer training & access, People Empowering People leadership development workshops
  

• Family Services: an emergency food pantry, rent and fuel assistance, MassHealth and food stamp enrollment, HIV testing & counseling, and information & referral services
  

• Resident-led Neighborhood Revitalization: youth and adult leadership training and committees that identify and solve neighborhood problems
