Founded in 2005, New England Equine Rescues (NEER) was formed to answer a need within the equine community to network hard-to-place horses that were not able to find sanctuary in overcrowded rescues throughout the New England area. Today, NEER actively rescues horses from a variety of situations: including owner surrenders, abuse & neglect situations as well as horses at risk for slaughter. Among other horse welfare organizations, NEER is a member of the Horse Rescue Coalition, Homes for Horses, Animal Welfare Institute, and The Equine Welfare Alliance.
